Question 1- How do I sign-up and begin taking lessons?

Please fill out a sign-up form. Select the desired course start date from the drop-down bar. Under comments, please state your second and third choices for a start date. We will contact you to cover any questions you may have and assist you in completing any requirements prior to beginning. All courses are booked on a first come basis and full course payment must be received to hold your spot.

Question 2- Do I use the fire truck for my driving test?

Yes, you use our NFPA compliant Spartan pumper for all your training and road-testing. A road-testing date is booked for four students once their knowledge tests are completed with Drivetest (four road tests per day of two in the morning and two in the afternoon). It includes a complimentary review session in the morning of your road-testing date. It also allows you to choose when you would like to test that day.

An individual (one on one) road test may be available for anyone looking to have an extra lesson just prior to their road test. This will allow for a warm-up a couple of hours before the actual road testing. There is a $99 surcharge for a solo road-testing date/time, plus any additional training requested outside of regular course.

Question 3- How are the in-truck lessons offered?

Covid Note: In-truck lessons may change at anytime due to provincial restrictions currently in place. What will not change is the fact that you will receive two in-truck sessions with your course prior to your road-testing date.

Included with Course- You get two in-truck lessons with your DZ Licence Course.

Group Lessons or Individual.

Group Lessons- Are a half day (4 hours) each. There are two sessions offered each day. Morning session is from 8 am-12 pm. Afternoon session is 1 pm-5 pm. We allow 2 students in the truck per 4-hour training session.

Individual- (One on one) In-truck lessons are available upon request. They will be 3 hours long each. An individual lesson is in exchange for a group lesson offered with the course. You can custom choose your dates and start time. There is a $99 surcharge (per lesson) for one-on-one lessons. This also allows for more scheduling options (weekday evenings, etc.)

Additional- In-truck lessons are available to be taken at any time after the classroom session. They can be prior to in-truck lesson one, in between lessons one and two, or after in-truck lesson two. They are available to allow anyone to be better prepared, catch up, or just have more time required to feel comfortable enough to inspect and drive the truck to ministry standards. Additional in-truck training is $90 per hour with a 2-hour minimum.

Question 4- When can I take my driving lessons?

Driving lessons can be booked 7 days a week. They are booked on a first requested/first reserved basis. Conveniently you will book your in-truck training from a list of dates given when your road-testing date is booked/confirmed with the drive test center. You should space out your two in-truck lessons between your classroom session and your road-testing date. We do not recommend taking back-to-back, in-truck lessons (two days in as row), as you will need time in between to practice and study. We will not book your second in-truck lesson, the day before your scheduled road test. The second in-truck lesson shall be taken at least two days prior to the scheduled road test. Additional in-truck training may be purchased/taken at any time.

Question 5- Where do I take my lessons?

We are 68 St David Street in Lindsay, ON located in The City of Kawartha Lakes. We are 30 minutes north of the 401 at hwy. 115/35 (location tab under contact tab). We have our very own fire station training center. Park in our private 20 space parking lot, then come in and grab a coffee. Our neighbors think it is a fire station, so we will let them. We are conveniently located the next street over from the Drivetest center (remote lot for commercial testing). We have lots of fresh air along with a relaxed driving course. Come train by the water as we watch the boats go by.

Question 6- How do I pay for my course?

We can accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, a Cheque and E-transfer. Course fee is subject to a compulsory ancillary fee and HST. Payment details are given upon registration request. Full payment is required to confirm your course booking.
