SAFELANE FIRE TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING will put you through the paces to get your DZ  licence in Ontario. We will provide you with the lessons and materials to learn and apply all areas of inspecting and driving a fire truck.

    • Schedule 1 defect reporting
    • Safe driving techniques

    • Proper backing and hand signals
    • Roadside stop procedures

    • Brake fade and failure
    • Inclement weather and road conditions
    • Lane positioning
    • Gaining a comfortable level of operation
    • Completion of a road test to gain your D and Z licences.

This course includes;

One day, classroom session- 9 am-5 pm

Two days, of in-truck training- (student chooses both days sometime between classroom session and road test)

Use of truck, for road test 

Cost- $1320.00+HST ($1000.00 Course Tuition+ $320.00 Ancillary Fees)

  • Please ensure prerequisites under APPLICANT CHECKLIST tab for this course.
  • SIGN UP for any course start date. Maximum 12 students per class. 9 am-5 pm.
  • MEDICAL FORM and written ministry tests for both D and Z class licences shall be completed 20 days prior to start date. (print medical form one page/two sided).
  • Safelane’s very own course handbook provided for classroom session.
  • In class covers D and Z licence material both theory and practical truck demonstrations.
  • Two in truck lessons (see FAQ).
  • Includes use of truck for road test (1.5 hours for road test).
  • Road testing is back to back.(4 people per day).

Upon course completion, you will receive a course certificate.
